Just a little about us
Creative People.
Is a student-organized and driven organization that supports creativity and thinking in our local young artists. We are made up of several enthusiastic, creative high-school art students in Bergen County and New York. After observing the local children's individuality and potential in creative thinking and art, we decided to give them the chance to perform their abilities and to acknowledge few outstanding young artists. Hence, in 2013, Creative People organized the Art Contest for Creative Kids.
Through the Art Contest for Creative Kids, we ask the creative children in our local communities to develop their own ideas and opinions on the given topic and to transform their thinking into art. Through this artistic thinking process, the children are challenged with the position of having limitless possibilities and approaches to delivering their message. This may be an unfamiliar approach to art; however, with the challenge and practice of self-thinking, we want the young artists to realize that thinking, imagination, and art are connected, and that art offers infinite ways of telling a story.
This year's theme, "Earth Conservation", will motivate students to learn about the Earth and to spread awareness through art. The children will independently form ideas on the environment, sustainability, and our role in protecting the planet. They may also begin developing their own solutions to this worldly issue and decide to make small and big changes through raising awareness or simple everyday actions. This competition and its student-made artworks may seem like minor step towards benefiting the issues of Earth Conservation", but the truth is that not only do these artworks spread awareness on their viewers and communities, but also have a lasting impact on our future generation of artists, who, through the process of creative thinking and work, will develop a consciousness or compassion for the Earth.
This art competition will not only examine the artistic skills of students, but also look at the message and ideas portrayed by the artwork, which is why we ask each artist to write about his or her work and its significant or connection to the topic. Creative People is committed to promoting uniqueness and individuality; therefore, we will judge without discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national or ethnic origin, handicap, or gender. The artworks will be presented to our judges without information of the artists to prevent any biased or distorted judgment.
Although this is only the first year of the Art Contest for Creative Kids, we are working hard to organize, fund, and promote our competition, and hope that a successful competition this year will help to both mature the competition and ourselves in the following years to come. Through these careful yet bold steps, Creative People will progress towards achieving its primary goal: to benefit our future artists and communities with the spur of creativity and awareness.
Thank you student artists and parents for participating in our contest.
