Congratulations Winners and Participants of 2013!

After thorough judging of all the submitted art works, 3 works were chosen as 1st and two runner up 2nd places winners! They were judged according to the technical use of medium, visual harmony, clear message and theme, as well as the writing that explained the piece and its significance. Artistic skills come with experience and age; hence, the judges tried to acknowledge the message and the creativity a little more than the technical aspects.

Well, fabulous job, all our young artists! Your artworks were beautiful and well communicated the theme of Earth Conservation!

The winners will receive awesome prizes:
An iPad Mini for the 1st Place winner
$100 Barnes & Nobles gift cards for the two runner ups

And their works will be featured as Earth Conservation posters during the Drug Free NJ concert's art auction held in Spring 2014, as well as on this blog. The winners' works and profiles will be featured soon.

Thank you all for learning and thinking about sustaining our planet. And we hope that you earned something from this experience! Keep being creative and caring!

Our next semi-annual Art Contest for Creative Kids will be held in April 2014, with a different awareness theme, to be announced before then.

Fundraiser 2013

So, the last entry was submitted, and the artworks are ready to be reviewed tomorrow, October 18th, 2013! Well done everyone!

And just a little summary on our adventures since summer until now...

The first Art Contest for Creative Kids...The organization has been like a new born creature, needy and time-consuming. Since summer 2013, we've been planning, organizing, and advertising the ACCK. Truthfully, it is still so premature, far, far away from being able to walk on its own; but we've taken baby steps, and hope to walk on.

For a group of students (aka. big-sized kids), it wasn't easy to come even this far. And sure, the process took away much time from our tightly-packed days and carved away at our precious hours of beauty sleep, but the experience was worthwhile and fun; it allowed us to work as a group of independent and creative leaders and to spread good cause. The past few months with the ACCK may have changed something inside ourselves as well. If anything was stressful at all, it was the fundraising; we wanted to reward the artists through our competition, but agreed that we didn't want to be those creepy door-knockers who come asking for your money at night. Hence, we came up with... candies! Which led to: selling snacks to the kids at our art studio, selling Halloween candies to parents, and making custom Halloween candy bags for class hand-outs. (below are some photos of the goodie bags we've made) And we're almost there! by the end of this month, we will have all the prizes (ipad mini and two $100 BN giftcards) ready to award to the winners!

Creativity is good
