Rachel Kim from Demarest, NJ
From her writing about her work:
I wanted to show that there are many ways to help the earth and give back to the environment, and I realized I wanted to not only illustrate one idea or concept but four. I also wanted to show that the four concepts drawn in my artwork were not separate ideas but one whole concept: earth conservation. So I drew lines on the paper to resemble a connected puzzle and each puzzle piece showed a different earth conservation tips: recycling, community service, turning off water when you don't need it, and saving energy.

My work is about air pollution,global warming, water pollution, and land pollution.
The girl is spraying a 'Earth- cure' spray while riding an imaginary animal.
The girl portrays my intention to express what we need to do to conserve the Earth.
We must take charge of our planet and keep it clean. Our planet is vital to us and all living things.

From her writing about her work:
In my artwork for the Earth Conservation contest, I have decided to divide it into three sections. The one on the left corner, pictures a leaking faucet. I think of it as little specks of diamonds going through a black hole. You don't know how much you're wasting over there. The picture on the right-side corner, indicates a healthy tree ,providing oxygen which I drew as hearts. Finally, the one with the leaves, also represents the trees and pollution. The pollution is the fire burning the environment one by one.
